What We Do
So many acronyms!
The world of therapy is filled with acronyms - CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, TF-CBT (Trauma-focused CBT), and on and on, and so on. It can be difficult to see the forest through the trees of acronyms and the latest trends in research. We both have training in many modalities, including CBT, DBT, TF-CBT, Brief Strategic Family Therapy, Structural Family Therapy, Trauma Exposure Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and more. Beyond specialized training and over two decades of experience in the fields of mental health and substance abuse, we believe deeply that the therapeutic relationship is the cornerstone of all successful treatment. Research supports how critical this is, regardless of the treatment approach taken.
We honor the therapeutic relationship and believe growth and change is only possible when people feel safe to be emotionally vulnerable. Therapy isn't always comfortable. It should feel challenging at points, and yet the touchstone of support exists to make it through the challenges with newly developed insight and growth.
